Tamkeen Strategic Partner of the 18th World Productivity Congress

Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister, Bahrain will host the 18^th edition of the World Productivity Congress under the theme “New Roads to Innovation and Higher Productivity.”

The congress is organized by JAFCON Consultants for Productivity Improvement in strategic partnership with Tamkeen and UNIDO. The Bahrain Society for Training and Development is a co-organizer of the event. The congress, which will be held at the Gulf Convention Centre – Gulf Hotel between 2^nd and 4^th April, is the first of its kind in Bahrain, the GCC countries, and the MENA region.

More than 600 leading businessmen, industrialists, scholars, decision makers, administrators, and productivity experts from 72 countries will discuss successful experiences on the use of resources and productivity improvement at the two-day convention.

Discussions will focus on three main areas: “Financial stability and economic growth through higher productivity, “social enhancement, productivity drivers and indicators,” and “education reforms and innovation ecosystem.”

The congress is expected to attract many regional and international speakers and provide a valuable platform to exchange expertise and conclude agreements among various vital sectors in 600 countries. It will shed light on the concept and status of global productivity, allowing participants to identify their position on the global productivity map.

Commenting on Tamkeen's strategic partnership of the congress, Dr. Abdullah Al Sada, Tamkeen’s Marketing Communications Acting director  said: “Tamkeen has always worked to push Bahrain's economy ahead. We believe that motivating productivity and competitiveness in the kingdom's various sectors is one of the most effective support methods as it creates more opportunities, produces new ideas, and develops existing projects.”

JAFCON CE Dr. Akbar Jaffari highlighted that the congress takes place in Bahrain for the first time ever in the Middle East and North Africa region. Furthermore, Dr. Jaffari who was elected fellow in 2015 by the World Confederation of Productivity Science continued stating that the congress will witness further elected fellows from Bahrain and the MENA region. The congress will also allow discussing the arrangements needed so Bahrain serve as a hub for productivity in the region, he added.

In turn Dr. Hashim Hussein, head of UNIDO ITPO / AICEI Bahrain, stated that “The congress falls in line with the UNIDO / AICEI mandate towards promoting entrepreneurship and the growth of MSMEs as it focuses on productivity and innovation, keeping in mind that we are in the fourth economic revolution “digitalization”.  Thus utilizing and ensuring high productivity and adopting and embracing innovation will undoubtedly create effective and efficient enterprises who are geared towards global outreach”.

Mohammed Mahmood Al Shaikh president of the Bahrain Society for Training & Development (BSTD) said: “Bahrain Society for Training & Development (BSTD) is proud to be part of this global congress, as we seek to help enterprises to take a step toward increasing the productivity through developing their human capital.”

Hosting the 18th World Productivity Congress reflects Bahrain's belief in the need to utilize resources in a way that increases productivity.
