Tamkeen collaborates with Global Platform Coursera to support virtual training for Bahrainis

The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) announced a partnership with global platform Coursera to provide virtual training opportunities in various high-demand fields for the Bahraini workforce. This initiative is part of Tamkeen’s ongoing efforts to support the development of skills and high-quality training for Bahrainis as well as enhancing their competitiveness both locally and globally. Coursera has partnered with Etijah Coaching & Consulting as a local provider to manage the operations.

This initiative will offer Bahraini professionals access to a wide range of training programs and professional certifications available on the Coursera platform, which features more than 12,000 internationally accredited courses and projects. The initiative will also contribute to the professional development of Bahrainis, helping them refine their skills through interactive learning experiences that offer recognized certifications. In addition, the platform provides easy access to high-quality education and training – regardless of time and location – which facilitates the successful joining and completion of programs by trainees. The program will also offer a track for jobseekers which will offer guidance for them to build a tailored career pathway and plan that enables them to complete the training with the purpose of getting employment opportunities, taking into consideration the skills and specialties required in the labor market.

Her Excellency Ms. Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) reaffirmed Tamkeen’s commitment to offering quality programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing training and professional development opportunities for Bahraini talent within efforts to strengthen their competitiveness making them the preferred choice for employment in the labor market.

“We are continuously working to foster collaborations with global training institutions to offer the best training opportunities for Bahraini citizens and at high levels of flexibility,” said Ms. Mofeez on the occasion.

“Our goal is to equip the labor market with qualified national talents who possess the skills required by the private sector, contributing effectively to productivity and sustainability in alignment with Tamkeen’s strategic priorities.”

Coursera is one of the largest online learning platforms in the world, with over 168 million registered learners as of December 31, 2024. Coursera partners with over 350 leading universities and industry leaders to offer a broad catalog of high-quality content and credentials, including courses, Specializations, Professional Certificates, and degrees. Institutions worldwide rely on Coursera to upskill and reskill their employees, citizens, and students in high-demand fields such as GenAI, data science, technology, and business.

This initiative aligns with Tamkeen’s strategic priorities for 2025, which focus on enhancing the position and competitiveness of Bahrainis in the private sector, equipping Bahrainis with suitable skills for career development in the private sector and prioritizing enterprise growth, digitization and sustainability and supporting the development of the ecosystem surrounding the labor market and private sector.
