Tamkeen Organises Kaizen Quality Workshop
Tamkeen, in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), organised a workshop on the ‘Kaizen Consultancy Programme’ for Bahraini companies. The workshop aims to disseminate the Kaizen methodology for quality management to companies in attendance; and introduced the companies to the Kaizen Programme to encourage them to adapt it to improve their work productivity, safety management and management efficiency.
The workshop was delivered by Kaizen expert Mr. Masahiko Tamai, with the participation of over 100 Bahraini companies and in presence of His Excellency Mr. Kiyoshi ASAKO, Ambassador of Japan.
Tamkeen’s collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) aims to disseminate the ‘Kaizen’ methodology in the Bahraini private sector as part of its continued efforts to enable companies to grow, diversify and increase their productivity across their different development phases.
‘Kaizen’, a Japanese word that means “improvement”, is a unique methodology that contributes in enhancing organisational processes through the reengineering and development of the production process for the companies. Kaizen process also helps businesses in improving their productivity and performance levels gradually and continuously in the different parts of the organisational structure.
Commenting on the announcement, Tamkeen’s Chief Executive, Dr. Ebrahim Janahi said “In line with Tamkeen’s continued efforts to support businesses across all stages of development, and enabling them to make a difference in shaping the national economy and the future of Bahrain, we always look for the right partner – local, regional or international, to share their innovative experiences and unique ways in running a successful business.” He added: “Our partnership with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) aims to bring Kaizen methodology to the Bahraini market and help businesses achieve their goals and objectives.”
The workshop included a panel discussion led by Mr. Tamai which discussed international models and implementations in areas of quality processes in the business sector. The panel also highlighted futuristic visions aiming to raise awareness regarding the importance of adopting quality standards in university curriculums with the aim to strengthen the link between educational outcomes and labour market trends.
